Artist Statement per august 2024 Glass is, for me, the material of dreams. The polymorphous matter that exist between contrasting states of solidity and fluidity, hot and cold, opaque and transparency. It is a artificial material, used throughout time to create objects of delicacy and luxury, and of dreams.
I am curious about how the human body relates to its surroundings, both in the natural and artificial world. I am inspired by literary texts and theories, poetry and songs, nature and myths. I believe that objects can be a sort of sign for the viewer to read and engage in a dialogue with, much like words.
Being a trained glassblower, I work with traditional techniques such as graal and kuttrolf, developing from there new ways to push the barrier of the material and its expression. Over the years I have invited new materials and ways of working into my practice.
I want to give you something you can hold in your hands. Something solid, yet fragile, something that can open up a kind of intimacy. I want you to feel the connection with the physical world, and from here invite you into a realm of dreams.
